Winston-Salem, NC: Visit Old Salem Moravian

Winston-Salem, North Carolina is the brand name of cigarettes. Salem came first: a planned city of Moravia theocratically sect. The Moravians were followers of John Hus, burned at the stake in the 15th century to believe that Holy Communion should be shared for all believers and not just the priest and the Bible should be available in local languages. Both are now followed by the Roman Catholic Church. Say it was a little ahead of its time, say 500 years.

Old Salem is a living history museum and the community. Private residences and public buildings exist side by side. Some private residences, even allow visitors to enter their gardens. For a price you can go in some buildings and learn about life in the community. The city began making money for the Church and all learned a trade, which was useful to the community. Your customers are local farmers and mountainmen, who could not pay for imports of Europe. Some of these operations, shown are paving armory, ceramics, sewing, tin and tin smithing, wood turning and joining. The town has a bakery operation (known delicate cookies). The city also conducted a tavern, a hotel and restaurant for visitors who have bought there.
